Elders living with memory loss due to Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia truly benefit from the Best Friends™ Approach.
At Bridgepointe, we know that no two people are alike in their needs and preferences.
It’s about compassion, respect and kindness.
Elders with memory loss, including Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, truly benefit from The Best Friends™ Approach. Our staff understands each elders’ life story, preferences, likes, dislikes, individual abilities, as well as challenges. This helps our staff provide personalized care that builds trust and forms strong friendships.
We understand that people living with memory loss benefit from daily routines which provide the comfort of familiarity to their days. Meals are served in the neighborhood dining areas where elders and staff enjoy their meals together.
Along with all-inclusive 24/7 nursing care, Bridgepointe also provides:
Daily group programs held in “Friends Corner” for all who wish to participate. The uplifting activities are meant to stimulate, engage and provide socialization. These programs include exercise, music, art, dancing, and more.
A secured outdoor patio and garden provides a place for gardening, bird watching, strolling, and relaxation.
“Buster Bags” - individual activity totes designed for each elder living in our Memory Care and The Bridge. The totes are filled with activities that tap into lifelong interests, and have been adapted to meet the elders’ present cognitive and physical abilities.
Morning Devotions and Sunday Worship Service.
How our approach is different.
At Bridgepointe at Ashgrove Woods, we employ the Best Friends™ Approach to Memory Care, which is an internationally recognized model of care that is designed to create the best possible days for our residents.
At the core of The Best Friends™ Approach is the understanding that relationships are vital in dementia care. Our experienced staff and volunteers are extensively trained in Best Friends™ model of care. They work individually with elders to learn their life stories and essentially become their “Best Friends.” Our team members know how to emphasize our elders’ strengths and abilities, encourage them to participate in meaningful and fun activities and spend days together that are positive, upbeat and life-affirming.
The Best Friends™ Day Center
We’re here to help.
The care and services offered at Best Friends™ Adult Day Center support adults who need assistance with daily living. Participants enjoy the company of peers and meaningful activities within our safe, home-like environment alongside experienced professionals.
It’s about the little things.
Sometimes it’s ice cream.
As the original Best Friends™ Adult Day Center, we promote relationships that in turn offers a meaningful experience; revolving around the idea that the best care begins with the acknowledgment and celebration of one’s life story. The more a caregiver knows about their best friend, the more they can provide assistance and support.
At the heart of the Best Friends™ Approach is the understanding that relationships are fundamental to care. Empathy, respect, support, trust and humor – the essential elements of friendship. This allows aging adults to live with dignity and purpose.
